STM Delivered a New Batch of Diesel Locomotives on the Threshold of the 500th Anniversary of Havana Celebration

Eight diesel locomotives manufactured by Lyudinovo Diesel Locomotive Plant (part of Sinara-Transport Machines Holding) were transferred to TRADEX. Locomotives from this batch are decorated with the logo of the 500th anniversary of Cuban capital, which is celebrated in November.

STM Holding supplies diesel locomotives under an Agreement with the Union of Railways of Cuba, signed in 2016. To date, 51 TGM8KM diesel locomotives have already been shipped to the customer, another 24 vehicles are planned to be delivered until 2021. “Complimentary” batch of TGM8KM was demonstrated to delegations led by the head of the Russian Export Center Andrei Slepnev, who arrived on a working visit to Liberty Island.

STM supplies machinery under life cycle contracts. This approach to manufacturing and after-sales maintenance improves efficiency of rolling stock operation. “We manufacture all our products according to customer requirements, at the same time we take them into account during operation of the equipment,” Director General of Trading House STM Anton Zubikhin said. “We fully understand market needs and were among the first to switch to life cycle contracts. This is a competitive advantage of export strategy today.”

Among other important areas of cooperation with the Union of Railways of Cuba there is modernization of Cienaga depot in Havana, machinery maintenance, advanced training of Cuban specialists of railway repair services.

In August STM and Russian Railways concluded a Memorandum in accordance with which the parties identified priority areas for developing cooperation on restoration and modernization of railway infrastructure of the Republic of Cuba, including supply of track equipment, as part of developing commercial and partnership relations. According to intentions, high-performance machines will be manufactured at STM production sites.

“Russia and Cuba have long been linked by close economic ties and high level of trust that has historically developed between the two countries. The government will continue to implement state support programs for industrial exports. One of the key areas will be to establish a set of incentive measures for industrial companies that are aimed at exporting products to countries of strategic importance for the Russian Federation,” General Director of Russian Export Center JSC Andrey Slepnev commented.
