2ES10 DC freight mainline electric locomotive

2ES10 “Granit” two-section freight DC electric locomotive with asynchronous traction motors is designed to haul freight trains on 1,520 mm gauge railways electrified with 3kV direct current voltage.

2ES10 is capable of hauling a train weighing 9,000 tons in sections with a flat track profile (up to 6 ‰) and a train weighing 6,300 tons in sections with a mountain profile (up to 10 ‰).

The electric locomotive may operate in a system of multiple units, and autonomous operation of one section of the electric locomotive is also possible.

Asynchronous traction drive by Siemens based on traction converters with IGBT transistor modules allows to increase tractive effort and significantly increase time between repairs

Advanced system of on-board diagnostics provides data transmission via a dedicated radio channel to the servers of the transportation control center and repair facilities.

In order to increase tractive properties of 2ES10 freight electric locomotives, a booster section has been developed aimed at hauling trains of increased weight along sections of railways with a particularly complex track profile.

System of automatic driving according to a given parameter of the driving time with constant tracking of the locomotive's coordinates in space using GPS/GLONASS systems.

Modular cabin with improved ergonomic and hygienic parameters.

Reduced specific electricity consumption compared to 2ES6 electric locomotive due to the use of technical solutions and energy-saving lighting.
